Written by Santosh Mishra on Monday, March 26th, 2007 in Ashlee Simpson.

Ashlee Simpson was born in Waco, Texas, and raised in Dallas. She is the daughter of Joe Truett Simpson (a former Baptist youth minister who is now her manager) and Tina Ann Drew (a former Sunday School teacher who homeschooled Ashlee)[citation needed]. An accomplished dancer, Simpson began studying classical ballet at the age of three, and was admitted to the School of American Ballet in New York City at the age of eleven. Around that time, she suffered from an eating disorder; the condition lasted about six months, and she dropped to about 31 kg (70 pounds) at 159 cm (5ft 2in), but her parents then stepped in and got her to eat more. After her sister Jessica Simpson landed a record deal, the Simpson family decided to move to Los Angeles, California, where Ashlee began appearing in television commercials. When Jessica became a star after releasing her first album, Ashlee became one of her backup dancers. Later, she began appearing in films and television series, including an episode of the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle in 2001, a minor role in the 2002 film The Hot Chick and a recurring role on the family drama series 7th Heaven. In the summer of 2003, recorded a song titled “Just Let Me Cry” for the soundtrack of the film Freaky Friday. Eventually, Simpson signed a record deal with Geffen Records.

Adriana Francesca Lima (born June 12, 1981 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil) is a Brazilian supermodel. She is famous for her exotic beauty and best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret.

Adriana Lima was discovered while at a local mall at the age of 13. She finished in first place in a Ford Supermodel of Brazil model search. Lima later followed with a second place finish in the 1996 Ford Supermodel of the World contest. Shortly after, Lima moved to New York City, and eventually moved on from Ford, signing with Elite Model Management. Her early career consisted mostly of fashion editorial work (with early appearances in international editions of Vogue and Marie Claire in 1997/1998), as well as runway work (Christian Lacroix, Valentino, and others). Lima’s first big break came when she was featured in a Vassarette billboard in Times Square. Her print career followed, and like many other famous names (Claudia Schiffer, Laetitia Casta, Eva Herzigova), Lima became a GUESS? Girl in their 2000 Costanoa and has face campaign.

Sania Mirza at Asian Games, Doha, Qatar - Set 2

Written by Santosh Mishra on Saturday, March 24th, 2007 in Sania Mirza.

Sania won the Wimbledon Championships Girls’ Doubles title in 2003, teaming up with Alisa Kleybanova of Russia.

As of September 2006, Sania has notched up three top 10 wins against Svetlana Kuznetsova, Nadia Petrova and Martina Hingis.

At the 2006 Doha Asian Games, Sania won the silver in the women’s singles category and the gold in the mixed doubles partnering Leander Paes. She was also part of the Indian women’s team that won the silver in the team event.

She has stated that one of her best friends is fellow WTA tour player, Anna Chakvetadze.

Sania has been an advocate and a role model for women’s empowerment, on a scale of public visibility never seen before. True to her phenomenal credentials she has diligently been media-savvy and has clearly shown a determined face in spite of all the criticism. Many point out that her handling of the dress-fatwa issue has been non-confrontational, something political bigwigs have been fast to exploit. In India, Sania has been projected using a soft-approach by the State and Central governments by making her the posterchild of female empowerment; this has made Sania into a highly publicised and presentable personality.

While she initially caught the attention of the media and the public with her in-your-face no-holds-barred attitude with a penchant for t-shirts with strong punchlines, Sania’s drop in performance hasn’t kept pace with her attitude. While the pressure on the country’s premier sportsmen, its cricketers, is well known, Sania seems to be at odds with the media baiting her regularly for what it perceives to be Sania’s unmotivated approach to tennis. Sania has recently quipped that even though she probably would never win a Grand Slam in her career or may not even find herself in the top rung of the seeds, she is enjoying tennis and everything that comes with it. Indian national coach Enrico Piperno has commented that its high-time Sania got a proper coach who could help improve her game substantially to have any hope of winning titles. Many in the Indian tennis fraternity feel this has been the constant bone of contention between Sania and her coaches.

Sania’s clothing is provided by Lotto Sport Italia. Her racquets are provided by Head.
